Mother’s day and Father’s day are approaching and like every year, you are struggling a bit to find the perfect gift? It just seems to get more difficult every year, doesn’t it?!
Your mom or your dad will probably prefer to spend time with you then receive another gift. Take them on a date: a restaurant, a walk, an exhibition. If they don’t want to go out, cook for them or get delivery 😉 Help them do something they wouldn’t do otherwise… Do it with them. Make memories with them that, you and them, will cherish.
One of the last gift I gave my mom before she pasted, was a hot air ballon ride! She & my dad loved it. They talked about it often!
If for some reasons, you must get them something, I’ve said it 1000 times, try to make sure it is eco-friendly, useful, reusable or at least interesting, personal and inspiring!
Below you will find a couple ideas. Those are a little focused on inspiring them to travel! If after that your mom & dad disappear to the other side of the world, to destinations you are dreaming about, do not blame me!

A book you can make yourself
It can be anything. A book of your best travel pictures or maybe a recipe book of your favorites dishes so your mom or dad clearly knows what to cook when you come visit (that’s a win-win!). A scrap book of your family best souvenirs. A book of your family road trips… Possibility are endless. With a service like www.blurb.com, you chose the format and you design it. Yes it can even be an e-book!
A kindle is (almost) always a good idea!
You know me by now! I’m a Kindle fan. I like real books as well, but not everything is really worth the paper it is printed on. So a Kindle is always a good idea!
Paper white is ideal for the the ones who like mostly novels. Some are even water proof now!
Kindle Fire is best if it is going to be used for other reads, like magazines and travel guides.
You can add to their Kindle some inspiring read. Like anything from National Geographic!
One neat idea would be to add a guide book to inspire them to travel! And let’s be crazy & combine the guide book with a Spanish class or French class or what ever language is required for this destination!
If you can’t buy them the actual trip, that’s the next best idea!!
If you’re not into Amazon / Kindle, you can do the same with a Kobo of course!
Eco-friendly summer nights!
If your mom or dad isn’t ready to travel the world, you can bring the world to them!
With a good French wine bottle and these recycled wine bottle glasses for example! The one below is from the Ultimate Green Store and comes in different size.
Those are kind of perfect for summer evenings spent outside! As glass bottles are pretty sturdy, these will last for a long time. You can take them for picnics and camping trips! And yes, they are recycled so bonus points here!
Add a mosquito repellent candle or 2 and your mom or dad are all set for charming and relaxing summer nights!

Get them the best travel products out there
Your mom & dad probably already own a suitcase. In which case, why not get them some ‘best traveler advise’ and help them get solid for all their personal care products? Spilling shampoo isn’t fun and solid shampoos definitively the answer.

Get a few of those, wrap nicely and you have here a great gift which can, of course, be used at home but will be great when traveling.

I don’t think I could possibly ever recommend you to buy a fanny pack for yourself or for anyone else, even someone you hate! I know it made a come back in fashion, but if you are traveling to Europe, just please avoid… Please!! 😉
Inspire them with a nice art print!
