When going on a road trip, one essential item is a good playlist! You can drive in silence of course, you can listen to the roar of your engine, you can simply get lost in your thoughts or expect to have enough conversation going to last the entire drive… or you can plan ahead and download all you need in advance and why not, sing along!

Today, summer is officially starting! And the need to hit the road and discover the world is hitching even more than usual!
Today is also, in many Countries, the Fête de la Musique or World Music Day. We’ll be celebrating in Luxembourg at the Foyer des Arts, where students and teachers will be performing live music, singing and dancing! It’s going to be a lot of fun!!
Although I’ve always wanted to play guitar, I can’t bear the thought of cutting my nails short enough so instead of taking guitar lessons, I’ve been taking drawing classes at the Foyer des Arts!! If you want to check my latest art piece (lol) have a look at my Instagram feed. I’ve started a pencil drawing inspired from the Musicien by Tamara de Lempicka. I like Art deco but I don’t think that it’s going to be my style! 😉
So what should you listen on your next road trip?
Whatever your music choices are, there are some classics that should probably be on your list. Here is my little playlist:
1. Around the World – Red Hot Chilli Peppers
2 Route 66 – Rolling Stones
3. Runnin’ with the Devil – Van Halen
4. Hotel California – The Eagles
5. King of the Road – Roger Miller
6. Road Trippin’ – Red Hot Chilli Peppers
7. Highway to Hell – ACDC
8. Life is a Highway – Rascal Flatts
9. I’ve been Everywhere – Johnny Cash
10. Cruisin’ – Smokey Robinson

I think these work best on a US road trip, the one that takes you through the incredible landscapes of Arizona, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico or even Colorado and California. If you want to see what I think is the best itinerary in this part of the world, you can check my US road trip map here.
Of course this is a very short playlist and you should have many more soundtracks in stock.
So what’s your favorite playlist? What do you listen when you are in your car?? Tell me in the comment section below! it’s free 😉
One little piece of equipment that I always take on road trips is this audio cable. Lots of cars have USB ports nowadays but you might end up, like us, with a rental that doesn’t have one. So when you do, this cable comes in very handy!
Obviously one side of the cable goes into the headphone jack of your iPod, iPhone or whatever you’re using to listen to music and the other side goes into your car’s auxiliary. It’s cheap, it’ light, it takes no space, so totally worth having with you just in case there is no USB port in the car you have.

Enjoy the Fête de la Musique!!
PS: Yes I’m feeling a little silly with these musical notes ‘decoration’ but they’re cute, aren’t they?!
