Who is Esther the Wonder Pig?
Queen Esther is the most famous pig of internet! Her Majesty and her best friend, Shelby, can often be found napping together, going for walks and doing some mischiefs, hanging out together by the pool, eating cookies and ice-cream together. Luckily for them, GrandMa often comes to visit to check on them and ensure they get enough cupcakes.
Esther is also very helpful around the house: rearranging furniture, handling groceries with her friends Shelby, Reuben and Delores, supervising renovation and other works around the farm (although she sometimes delegate this task to Delores)… she also act as fashion police when her Dads needs some help ; she has such a great sense for the latest trends and has a great wardrobe! She often visits the barns and the other pigs who live there. She may or may not have a crush on Captain Dan 😉
Esther is leaving the good life, but it wasn’t supposed to be that way and she got lucky to be adopted by her Dads. Steve and Derek say they are two normal people but it’s not entirely true. They have the 2 biggest hearts ever, the most beautiful & contagious smiles and are the very best Dads, Esther could have wished for, in her wildest dreams.
They also have a witty and charming sense of humor (we all looove those NSFW censor stickers!!) and their book, Esther, the Wonder Pig, is filled with emotions and sensibility.
The official description:
In the summer of 2012, Steve Jenkins was contacted by an old friend about adopting a micro piglet. Though he knew his partner Derek wouldn’t be enthusiastic, he agreed to take the adorable little pig anyway, thinking he could care for her himself. Little did he know, that decision would change his and Derek’s lives forever.
It turned out there was nothing “micro” about Esther, and Steve and Derek had actually signed on to raise a full-sized commercial pig. Within three years, Tiny Esther grew to a whopping 600 pounds. After some real growing pains and a lot of pig-sized messes, it became clear that Esther needed much more space, so Steve and Derek made another life-changing decision: they bought a farm and opened the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary, where they could care for Esther and other animals in need.
Funny, heartwarming, and utterly charming, ESTHER THE WONDER PIG follows Steve and Derek’s adventure–from reluctant pig parents to farm-owning advocates for animals.

This book recommendation may seem a bit out of place on a travel blog but if you’ve been around, you already know I’m mostly vegan and I believe advocating for a better World, for animals & humans alike has it’s place on any type of site.
