Going on a Road Trip in Turkey is the best way to get off the beaten paths and still see all the best sights of this incredible country, like Pamukkale and the Cappadocia region.
As you may have read in this post, we went on a road trip in South Turkey and our itinerary looked like this:
Obviously we really really wanted to go to Istanbul, but it wasn’t possible on this trip. So we landed in Antalya and I think it is a very good starting point to explore the South of the country.
If you have more time, there is another map available which you can find here.

A mini guide about Roman Architecture
If you are having a look at some of the linked articles above, you may be surprised to find out that there some pretty amazing Roman sites to visit in Turkey. A lot actually!
To help you when visiting such sites, I created something special. It’s a mini guide about Roman Architecture. With this guide in your pocket, you will be able to identify Roman buildings and know what they looked like centuries ago, even if there isn’t much of them left, today.
You may think this mini guide can only be useful in Italy?! Well, actually, you can use it far and beyond!
The Roman Empire covered pretty much all of Europe and especially all the countries around the Mediterranean Sea, so technically, this guide can be useful in many different countries and Turkey is one of them.
Check it out, I think you’ll like it.
Below you will see one of the 2 pages of this mini guide which includes all the most important Roman building types. This guide, (like all my other mini guides) is free to download.
