Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg:
the 3 founding countries of Europe.
It might seem unfair to put them together like that as they each have so much to offer, but for now I like it because it means Luxembourg is on top of my destination list and since this is where we are currently based, it does make it fair!
Belgium
Before living close by, I never gave much thought about Belgium. I don’t know why. I think I just never suspected it was such a beautiful country: I’ve been since taken by surprise by the beauty of the Belgium coast line, how green and lush the countryside is, how diversified the landscapes are and how many hidden gems can be found.
I’m even starting to like Brussels more and more! My first trip there, a few years back, wasn’t convincing… but now I’m letting its charms grow on me.
Despite that new found interest in Brussels, I still favor smaller, more romantic cities like Brugge which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list of course 😉 or Ghent. I’ll show you more, hopefully soon….
For now, come along the visits of the following sites:
– The Avioth Basilic (oups actually that’s in France! Oh well so so close the the Belgium border!)
Netherlands
So much to say about Amsterdam… of course! But Rotterdam is a vibrant city as well and surprisingly Den Haag will stay in my heart forever as I celebrate the most amazing beach wedding there.
It is on my to do list to tell you about all the good spots…. and my to do list is getting longer by the second! lol
Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a very small country but with so much to offer. I really have to start writing about all the things you can do here. Did you know that the old town and the city fortifications are part of the UNESCO World Heritage list?
In case you wonder and to get things straight right away, Luxembourg is not all about banks, investments and taxes. It’s a gorgeous country, with amazing people from all other the world creating a vibrant community. The main city Luxembourg, is charming and romantic and the countryside is filled with castles, forests, small colorful villages and beautiful rivers and lakes than have shaped sinuous path in the landscapes to create stunning points of view.

Here is an ideal itinerary which includes Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany! The little stars are UNESCO World Heritage sites. There is another much better map available for Luxembourg. You should check it out.
